About this event

Pint-sized heroes, ghosts, and the like will descend on the University of Virginia for the annual “Trick-or-Treating on the Lawn” celebration! This longtime tradition established by students in the late 1980s is open to children and families from the local community. Cosponsored by residents of the Lawn and Range communities, the residents and members of student organizations will be stationed in each of the 54 Lawn rooms as well as the Range to give out treats. All candy is donated and distributed by approximately 70 student groups and other organizations. Free parking for families attending the event will be available at the John Paul Jones Arena garage, JPJ South Lot, JPJ West Lot, and Culbreth Garage. Paid hourly parking may also be available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage . Residents look forward to hundreds of children and families participating in the festivities and encourage University students to attend, too! Sign-Ups for UVA CIOs All UVA-affiliated organizations and departments are invited to sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis to table on the South Lawn and pass out candy using the form below, beginning on Wednesday, October 7 at 9 a.m. In the form, organizations may also opt in to be considered to table from a Lawn or Range room, if a room becomes available to host following residents' priority sign-up. Please note that spaces are limited. Any organization that signs up after spots are filled will be placed onto a waitlist. Participating organizations are responsible for bringing their own table, candy, and decorations. The Sign-Up Form will be open from Wednesday, October 7 at 9 a.m. through Monday, October 12 at 11:59 p.m. Organizations must fill out the Trick-or-Treat on the Lawn CIO signup form during the open time slot to be considered for a table on the South Lawn. Spots are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
